Head of Local Authority Services

A not-for-profit organisation at the forefront of the fight against climate change in the UK is looking to recruit a Head of Local Authority Services.

This organisation aims to promote sustainable energy, reducing consumption and carbon emission across the UK. As Head of Local Authority Services the successful candidate will play a key role in combating climate change, helping Local Authorities to reduce their own carbon emissions and other households in the area.

The Local Authority team focuses on influencing and facilitating the installation of a wide range of sustainable energies. As the Head of this team your responsibilities will include:

• Working with local authorities enabling them to mitigate against climate change
• Securing resources that will support the organisations activities in this area
• Developing existing advisory services, ensuring local accountability for delivery of projects
• Establishing and ensure a leadership role for the organisation in delivering change with Local Authorities.
• Enhancing the depth and breadth of existing relationships with key stakeholders and across different levels of government.

This role requires someone with a proven ability to manage staff and budgets effectively. Familiarity with working alongside local and regional governments is essential, other key skills and attributes the successful candidate will posses include:

• The ability to plan and think on a strategic level
• A proven track record of working with multiple stakeholders
• First rate negotiating skills, being an effective facilitator for groups with different needs and objectives
• An understanding of sustainable energy and the challenges facing the sector is highly desirable
• Project management experience, specifically co-ordinating multiple tasks/projects/groups.

This role needs a candidate with excellent communication skills and offers the right candidate the opportunity to influence and enhance Local Government action on climate change.
