Executive Briefing

The things that inspired me in 2024

A year-end gift guide for the mind.

“Instead of a holiday gift guide,” I wrote near the end of 2019, “here are some of the things that made me smarter this year.” After 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 editions, let’s keep that tradition going again this year.

The deepest dive

Still one of the greatest personal joys that comes from publishing The New Consumer is the opportunity — really, more of a mandate — to learn in extreme detail from creative people at the top of their craft, and then to attempt to translate that into something clear and useful.

This year, that came from the many hours I put into researching and reporting on Row 7, a fresh vegetable (and seed) startup co-founded by Dan Barber, the acclaimed New York chef.
