McDonald’s is here to save us from diabetes. Just kidding!

The new CosMc’s brand is taking on Starbucks, all right — in the sugar department.

McDonald’s has launched a new concept called CosMc’s, a beverage-focused restaurant that many are saying will compete with Starbucks, especially in the afternoon hours.

A lot of smart people are saying a lot of nice things about it, including how its super-customizable beverages — like a Chai Frappé Burst, or Popping Pear Slush, or Turmeric Spiced Latte — will appeal to Gen. Z.

But one click on the nutrition information PDF, and — no thanks. Many of the beverages listed contain more than 100g (!) of sugar. A medium Churro Frappé contains 500 calories, 18g of fat, and 62g of sugar (54g added). That’s not even the large!
